Genesis 15:5-12, 17-18; Philippians 3:17-4:1; Luke 9:28b-36
In today’s readings, we are reminded of God’s faithfulness, the promise of transformation, and the call to discipleship.
In Genesis, God makes a covenant with Abraham, promising him descendants as numerous as the stars. Abraham believes, and his faith is counted as righteousness. This passage teaches us to trust in God’s promises, even when fulfillment seems impossible. Like Abraham, we are called to walk by faith, knowing that God’s plans for us are greater than we can imagine.
Paul, in his letter to the Philippians, urges us to follow Christ and not be consumed by worldly concerns. He reminds us that our true citizenship is in heaven. In a world filled with distractions, we must keep our focus on Christ and strive to live as his disciples, setting an example for others.
The Gospel of Luke presents the Transfiguration, where Jesus is revealed in glory alongside Moses and Elijah. The disciples are amazed, but they do not fully understand what they see. This moment foreshadows Christ’s resurrection and reminds us that suffering leads to glory. Like the disciples, we sometimes struggle to comprehend God’s ways, but we are called to listen to Jesus and trust in Him.
As we continue our Lenten journey, let us reflect on God’s faithfulness, keep our eyes on Christ, and listen to His voice, knowing that He is leading us to eternal glory. Amen.
