Life leads to Liturgy and Liturgy leads to Life! God calls us to celebrate through our daily life and to bring this gift to our Sunday celebration.
Many parishioners meet regularly for prayer in the Church. Before each weekday mass it is not unusual to hear the Rosary being prayed or the Angelus recited as the church bell chimes the noon hour. Most families take a moment to say a short prayer before meals and many regularly pray what is known as The Office or Liturgy of the Hours. Each Friday we meet as a community for a special time of adoration and prayer with the Exposition and Benediction which begins after the 9:00am Mass.
Rosary in the Cemetery is an opportunity to assemble and to pray for those who have died. It is usually conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon of the first Sunday of November in the North West corner of St. Mary’s Cemetery (718 Division, Kingston, ON).
Celebration of Memory and New Life is an annual gathering to pray for and with those who have lost loved ones in the past year. It is usually conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon at St. Joseph’s Church in early November.
A penance celebration is an opportunity to reflect communally on one’s own sins and to seek individual reconciliation. St. Joseph’s holds two such services each year, in Advent and one in Lent.
Holy Week is the most important time of the Church year in which we commemorate the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the last week of Lent and it includes Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday.
