Sunday: The Lord’s Day

Life leads to Liturgy and Liturgy leads to Life! God calls us to celebrate through our daily life and to bring this gift to our Sunday celebration.

Domestic Church

Many parishioners meet regularly for prayer in the Church. Before each weekday mass it is not unusual to hear the Rosary being prayed or the Angelus recited as the church bell chimes the noon hour. Most families take a moment to say a short prayer before meals and many regularly pray what is known as The Office or Liturgy of the Hours. Each Friday we meet as a community for a special time of adoration and prayer with the Exposition and Benediction which begins after the 9:00am Mass.

Rosary in the Cemetary

Rosary in the Cemetery is an opportunity to assemble and to pray for those who have died. It is usually conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon of the first Sunday of November in the North West corner of St. Mary’s Cemetery (718 Division, Kingston, ON).

Celebration of Memory & New Life

Celebration of Memory and New Life is an annual gathering to pray for and with those who have lost loved ones in the past year. It is usually conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the afternoon at St. Joseph’s Church in early November.

Parish Penance Celebrations

A penance celebration is an opportunity to reflect communally on one’s own sins and to seek individual reconciliation. St. Joseph’s holds two such services each year, in Advent and one in Lent.

Holy Week

Holy Week is the most important time of the Church year in which we commemorate the death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is the last week of Lent and it includes Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday.

School Masses

St. Thomas More Catholic School and St. Paul Catholic School are affiliated with St. Joseph’s Parish.

School Masses take place at the church at 10:30 a.m. once a month.  Please call the parish office at 613-547-5004 for specific dates.

Nigerian Community Mass

This past June, St. Joseph’s Parish celebrated their first Nigerian Mass and gathering.  Father Cosmas is looking to make this a regular event.  Check back soon for more details.

Flores De Mayo

Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May) is a Mass where the Filipino community gathers to honor of the Virgin Mary. It is usually held in the third Sunday in May @ 3:00 p.m. in the Church. It begins at 2:00 p.m. with the rosary followed by the Mass.
