Sent with Power, Called to Joy

  1. The Mission: Urgent and Shared:

Jesus sends out seventy-two disciples, not just the Twelve apostles, but ordinary followers, just like you and me. That number symbolizes completeness, a universal mission. This is not just for clergy or “the holy ones.” It’s for every believer. “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” That was true then, and it’s still true now. There are so many people hungry for love, peace, and truth, and Jesus is calling you to be the one to go. Maybe not across the world, but across your home, workplace, or community.

  1. The Method: Trust and Simplicity

Jesus says: “Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals.”
Why? Because the mission isn’t about wealth, comfort, or control. It’s about trusting God and relying on His providence. He wants His disciples to depend not on material things, but on the hospitality of others and the power of His Word. Sometimes we think we need to be fully prepared, fully equipped, perfectly trained to evangelize, but all Jesus asks for is a willing heart and obedient feet.

  1. The Message: Peace and the Kingdom

They are to say: “Peace to this house… The Kingdom of God is near you.” In a world of war, division, anxiety, and spiritual confusion, peace is not a luxury, it’s a divine gift. Every time we bring compassion, speak truth, forgive others, or live humbly, we announce the Kingdom.

We don’t need a pulpit; your life is the sermon.

  1. The Joy: Not in Results, but in Relationship

When the seventy-two return, they are thrilled, “Even demons obey us!” But Jesus redirects them: “Do not rejoice that spirits submit to you but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Power is exciting, results are encouraging, but the greatest joy is being known and loved by God. Success in ministry is a blessing, but intimacy with Christ is the real reward.

  1. Be a Messenger of Peace

You are sent, just like the seventy-two. Sent into homes, workplaces, cities, even social media, not with baggage, but with the message of peace, the power of love, and the joy of salvation. Whether or not people accept your message, know this: your name is written in heaven. And that is your greatest victory.
