Baptism reminds us that God is with us. We become adopted children of God our Father and sisters and brothers of Jesus and of one and other. We become temples of God’s Holy Spirit. As Roman Catholics we celebrate our baptism and share in His victory.
The process differs depending on the age of the person to be baptised. For children under the age of 7, please continue reading below. For children 7 and older, or adults, please contact the parish office directly.
For infants and children under 7 years, the process is very straightforward. Your first step is to fill out the registration form on behalf of your child. Once completed, please return it to the parish office. You are welcome to mail the hard copy of the document to parish office, drop it off in the mail slot, or return the form electronically to stjohn.perth@archkingston.ca (please note that only a full-page PDF format will be accepted).
Once we’ve received your completed form, one of our priests will want to meet with both parents. During this meeting, you will discuss the process as well as a preferred date.
Finally, throughout the process and before the baptism, we ask each parent to take some time to prepare their hearts and minds for their child’s baptism by checking out the “Reborn” series at FORMED.org. There is no cost associated, as you can log in using our Parish subscription (details below).
