Knights of Columbus

Perth Council 3531

Serving Stanleyville, DeWitt’s Corners, Westport, McDonald’s Corners, Lanark and Perth.

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal and service organization of Catholic men established by Fr Michael J McGivney in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut, USA.  His goal was to provide solidarity for Catholic families who were being discriminated against because of ancestry, religion and status in life and to also provide support to the widows and orphans of deceased members.  The Knights’ values are based on four principles: Charity, Fraternity, Unity and Patriotism.  Membership is open to Catholic men of at least 18 years of age and in communion with the Holy Sea.

The Knights hold special reverence for the Holy Virgin and have given her the title of “Mary, Queen of the Knights”.   The Knights of Columbus also provide unwavering respect and support for all clergy and religious members of  the Church.  In order to provide support for widows and orphans, an insurance program was set up and is today one of the top rated insurance programs in the world.

The local Knights of Columbus conduct many activities within its fraternal mandate and support many programs as a service organization to the church and its clergy.
